“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.” You have taught us to honor father and mother, and we say before You that there is special pain when we see their pain; there is special anger when we see their upset. Bring to Harold now the gift of righteous anger and balance it with the wisdom of holy discernment.

All we can offer to You now is a home of shattered trust. All we can give as a place to begin is accusation met with denial and the ways in which there is inward and outward pain.

Watch over Your bruised servant. Give her a healing sense of Your presence. And give us Your hand to hold as we walk through this forest of division. Bless Harold and bless Alice that these difficult days ahead may be a journey to truth and peace, until finally the right thing is done and Your name is glorified; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
